Green Turf Care’s simple solution to keeping insects out of the lawn.

Oftentimes, homeowners complicate their tactics in removing unwanted insects from their lawn. There are a number of different methods to rid your lawn of dangerous insects. If you follow these simple steps, you will be well on your way to protecting your beautiful lawn and landscape!

#1. Adjust the amount of fertilizer and water.

During the hot summer months, make sure to water the lawn in the morning for 45 minutes per zone. It is best to water every 4-5 days. Chinch bugs absolutely love to eat dry grass. Fertilize your lawn every 5-6 weeks with a slow release nitrogen to ensure a healthy root structure. By doing this, you will shield your lawn from being susceptible to pests.

#2. Adjust the mower height.

Mowing your lawn at a higher setting promotes a healthier turf!

#3. Aerate, Aerate, Aerate!

This process will help reduce the thatch in the lawn, plus it will let your lawn breath. Insects love to call home in a lawn full of thatch. The sooner you get rid of thatch, the better your lawn will be!
