Your lawn needs aerated and over-seeded here is why…

Aeration
Aeration is one of the most important cultural practices available for your lawn in Macungie.  Aeration helps control thatch, improves soil structure, helps create growth pockets for new roots, and opens the way for water and fertilizer to reach the root zone of your lawn.  Annual or semiannual aeration in Macungie is advised for all lawns on heavy clay soil, those with thatch buildup, and any lawn that needs to be “thickened up”.  Aeration removes thousand of small cores or clods of soil 1″ to 3″ in length from your lawn.  These soil fragments “melt” back into the lawn after a few rainfalls, mixing with whatever thatch exists on your lawn.  The holes created by aeration catch fertilizer and water.  Turf roots naturally grow toward these growth pockets and thicken in the process.  Aeration holes also relieve pressure from compacted soils, letting oxygen and water move more freely into the root zone.  Upon request, Green Turf can provide marking flags for you to mark irrigation heads, cables, etc. in turf area.Green Turf Care LLC is not responsible for any unmarked irrigation heads, invisible dog fence lines, internet/cable lines or any other object under turf.

Overseed

Over-seeding your lawn is vital for a thick, healthy, and weed free lawn in Macungie.  3-5 lbs of Premium Athletic Turf Grass seed is used per. 1,000 square feet.  Over-seeding lawns in fall reduces or eliminates competition from summer weedy grasses, such as crabgrass, foxtails, and other weeds.

Soil temperatures are still warm in the fall, which is necessary for seed germination, while the cooler air temperatures are better for grass growth.  Rain amounts and soil moisture is generally better in the fall.  Over-seeding lawns in Emmaus during the fall gives the grass a head start.  The roots have become established before winter, which greatly reduces crop loss should you have a hot, dry spring.
